Opening: Art and Synesthesia - Seoul Museum of Art, March 17 - June 7, 2009

Art & Synesthesia
2009. 03. 18. ~ 2009. 06. 07.
1F Main Building, Seoul Museum of Art

Art & Synesthesia is an art exhibition presenting an overview of synesthetic tendencies in contemporary art. With it we shed light on how the five senses are represented in artwork, and how they work at the source of an artist’s imagination. The exhibition is in two main sections:

First, Sensory Illusions, displaying works of art that bring about sensuous transitions and associations.

Second, Multiple Sense: Crossing and Blending, composed of pieces arousing fresh aesthetic experience through stimulation of the senses hearing, touch, smell, and taste, and the sense of sight, regarded as perhaps the most fundamental element of visual art.

With Art & Synesthesia we aim to provide viewers opportunities to feel and experience artworks in a new context, and broaden the scope of their thinking, away from the fixed notion, works of art are merely for ‘seeing’.
